WEEK 15

WEEK 15

Canberra diamonds are now ready to face the new season. There was jubilation and dissappointment as our final team was announced this week. Sixteen girls will be making our first tour across the Tasman, and the excitement is starting to build. It will be a very hard week as 9 games are scheduled in just 4 days. We are very fortunate to have 4 pitchers, and Greta from Italy gives us the pitching strength we lacked last year.We have 3 local rookies that have proved themselves and will boster our hitting department. We will be increasing our practices to 3 times a week to get match fit.
Our young boys comp is a big hit. Last night i did a skills session with 48 boys, on hitting. The older boys helped our new comers, and when they went into game situations there confidence was sky high. The parents and everyone involved gave it a big thumbs up. Next week will be a new challenge as we cover pitching and throwing.
Mens league played Monday night, and we saw two close games in the "b" division while c grade produced a couple of lobsided scores. Everyone left the park in a positive mood, and the fans enjoyed the night.
Tuesday the rains came, A grade was washed out. The womens teams were put through a punishing practice of sliding and diving on the wet grass. After that session it was into the club house for a signal session. What a shock to there system as they didn't realize there were so many signals. Our boy U/19s and 17s went through pitching and hitting sessions, and will back up with games Sunday.
So long till next week and i'll leave you with this thought to be a gracious winner you have to know what it takes to be a good loser.
